Norwegian Prima / Norwegian Viva Thermal Suite Reveal - Two-Story Waterfall & First Charcoal Room At Sea

Today, Norwegian Cruise Line released all the details about the Thermal Suite & Mandara Spa experience aboard the Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva. Norwegian’s thermal suite is among the best in the industry but this new class of ship is taking this experience to an entirely new level. This collection of experiences includes guest favorites such as a steam room, salt room, and ice room, as well as their first infrared sauna and the first charcoal sauna at sea.

The focal point of the new Mandara Spa is the indoor Floatation Salt pool, Vitality pool and multi-story waterfall area - the first of its kind on any cruise ship. This new Flotation Salt pool is state-of-the-art - floating in the warm, salt water creates a feeling of weightlessness and lowers your stress levels while antioxidants give your skin a renewed glow.

Relaxation Area

This expansive relaxation area is higher up than ever before, offering breathtaking views of the ocean and horizon and separated from the rest of the spa – providing an entire room simply dedicated to relaxing. Recline in the guest-favorite hot stone loungers, Prima features more of these beds than ever before.

Charcoal Sauna

The detoxifying properties of charcoal have been utilized for thousands of years—and are now available in this rejuvenating sauna. Recline into relaxation as the sauna helps boost your circulatory system and metabolism while removing heavy metals and toxins from your body. The heat energy that charcoal generates can also relax stiffness and tension, including relief from headaches and back pain.

Infrared Sauna

Unlike traditional saunas that use conventional heat to warm the air around you, infrared saunas utilize infrared lamps to directly warm your body — and at lower temperatures than traditional saunas. This promotes relaxation, better sleep, sore muscle and joint relief, improved blood circulation and detoxification.

Salt Room

Experience the subtle and soothing effects of this salt chamber. Salt is a natural, non-invasive treatment than alleviates health problems and reduces stress. The salt therapy chambers are designed to mimic the salt mines and caves of ancient Europe, which have been used for hundreds of years for their healing properties.

Ice Room

Cool off in the refreshing Ice Room. The cold air helps to increase blood circulation, awaken the senses, invigorate the respiratory tract, relieve stress and strengthen the immune system. Cold exposure has even been shown to make hair and nails shinier!

Steam Room

This aromatic temperature controlled steam room provides the perfect relaxing warmth of plant essence infused steam. A good steam is considered one of the best therapies to combat everyday stress and tension, and can also clear congestion, improve skin health and even lower blood pressure.
